Financial Giving
This information is general in nature and for informational purposes only. The New Braunfels Christian Academy strongly urges you to consult with you professional tax adviser to ensure coordination and appropriate deductions with your individual requirements and situation. Possible ways to give financially include:
Cash
Gifts of cash are fully deductible up to a maximum of 50% of adjusted gross income. Contributions in excess of the 50% maximum can usually be carried forward and deducted over a maximum of five subsequent years.
For more information on giving to the Christian Academy, please contact:
Kay Franklin
, Development Director
Appreciated Securities
Gifts of appreciated securities are fully deductible up to a maximum of 30% of your adjusted gross income. Contributions in excess of the 30% maximum can usually be carried forward and deducted over a maximum of five subsequent years. A gift of appreciated securities may bring the donor greater tax savings than gifts of cash and also offers the donor advantages, including:
You avoid paying capital gains taxes on the increased value of stock.
You receive a charitable deduction for the full fair market value of the stock when the gift is made. To do this, your stock generally must have been held long-term and for more than one year.
The School requests that donors arrange for valuable certificates and securities be deposited directly into the Christian Academy’s brokerage account, which is maintained only for this purpose. Securities in the account are sold immediately, with the cash proceeds forwarded to the school. The school’s Business Manager will work with your financial consultant to provide details, specific account numbers and expedite your transfers in an efficient manner. Because the transfer process can take several working days to complete, the school recommends that donors plan ahead with sufficient lead time to complete the transfers in the calendar year desired for the donation.
To make a gift to the Christian Academy by the transfer of securities, please contact:
